This is a research study designed to help us better understand how individuals perceive different types of maps. Your answers will help enhance our understanding of how to design better maps for communicating with the public.

Participation in this research study is completely voluntary. If you agree to take part in this research, you will be asked to view a few maps and answer some related questions. The entire study should take less than 10 minutes.

Note that it is possible that there could be a break of confidentiality for the data gathered in our study data. To protect your identity as a research subject, no personally identifiable information will be collected. Moreover, all study data will be stored in a password-protected location. As a result, the risk of any potential breach of security is minimal.

This study is led by the University of North Carolina (UNC) Visual Analytics and Communications Lab Non-participation will have no effect on any relationship you may have with UNC.
